Description: Manages and monitors the complete operation and management of County

vehicle and equipment fleet maintenance programs. Responsible for ensuring

that high quality vehicle and equipment repair and maintenance services are

provided by staff in assigned areas of responsibility. Manages and administers

fleet replacement program and County fuel facilities and fuel contracts.

Identifies areas for improvement; determines priorities, schedules, budgets and

assignments. Prepares and administers fleet maintenance budgets. Reviews,

approves and controls expenditures, oversees surplus inventory (including

auctions), and, working within County policies, prepares bid packages; manages

fleet billing. Plans, organizes and implements programs within major

organizational policies; reports progress of major activities to executive level

administrators through regular written and verbal reports and conferences.

Supervises subordinates and conducts periodic employee evaluations.

Performs related work as required.

Requirements: Requires high school diploma or GED and formal technical training, special

courses or self-education that is equivalent to completion of two years of

college education or specialized advanced training. Associates degree in

Business Administration or related field is desirable but not required. Requires

Fleet Manager certification, or ability to obtain such within six months of

employment. ASE certifications are desirable but not required. Minimum of four

years of responsible and related fleet management experience. Must possess a

valid Florida drivers license. Must successfully pass an employment reference

check, criminal background check and physical examination, including drug and

alcohol screening.

Basis of Rating: No written test is required. Each application/resume will be carefully reviewed to

assess each individuals qualifications. Selected persons will be interviewed
